Alice’s Tea Cafe

Where: Level 3 (food court) Westfield Chatswood – 1 Anderson Street, Chatswood 2067

Price: Normally around $25 – $35 pp

Rating: 6.5/10

I recently bought a deal off Groupon for high tea at Alice’s  Tea Cafe which included scones, macaroons, tarts and sandwich in addition to a drink (coffee or tea). As the name suggests, the cafe’s decor is inspired by Alice in Wonderland – think teapots, rabbits, bird cages, giant pink chess pieces and hedges to mirror Alice’s curious labyrinth (Mad hatter’s tea party anyone?). The setting is incredibly cute and the staff were quite friendly, however the food was a little bit of a let down as the scones were dry and the high tea did not work very well together.

High tea is definitely worth a try and Alice’s Tea Cafe will give you the experience with the 3 tier platter of scones, pastries and sandwiches for half the price, so do not reserve high expectations in terms of food quality. It is also situated in a shopping centre and thus the atmosphere will not compare to higher-class hotels such as the Park Hyatt (which overlooks the Sydney Opera House) or The Tea Room QVB with its Victorian vibe.

Too bad the food quality was lacking. I do love a good high tea!
